It is predicted that within the next year individuals will own 7 devices with internet capabilities. Why on earth would any one person ever need so many internet devices? Lets think what could they possibly be? T.V.s hooked up to wifi like the wii and xbox; ok, cell phones; duh, computers; another given, but what else... ipods; yup.... uh now what? Someone is really expected to own all of this and more within the next year? Who can afford it with the way the economy is?
\nWhy would you want a computer to have analytic capabilities, it sounds an awful lot like the movie G-Force (the one with the guinea pigs) where the coffee makers and other appliances came to life via computer chips and attacked anything that moved. What if our computers turn on us? It sounds crazy but if computers can use logic and thing then they could possibly over power homo sapiens couldn't they? Like searching outer space is this really something we are prepared to do?
\nWho decided smart phones should be known by food names? My phone had a gingerbread operating system or something like that and in the pod cast they mentioned an ice cream sandwich operating system. Odd isn't it...
\nWhat does that mean? How could X-ray vision glasses help detect counterfeit money? X-ray products for consumers, what could that mean on a personal level? I don't want anyone seeing my bones or looking through my clothes!!! I am quite glad someone thought to put a distance restriction on the products so that you cannot see someone naked from across the room but if the technology is out there who says someone won't try it!","dateCreated":"1335316160","smartDate":"Apr 24, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"13hemccluskey","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/13hemccluskey","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"53345008","body":"I thought this weeks course cast was pretty good, except didn't have too many things I was interested in. I thought that it was neat how they were saying the internet is like a global electronic nervous system. I thought that it was also interesting how the average internet user own two internet connected devices which is typically a computer and a smartphone. I can relate to that because I do own both of those things. Im a big facebook user so I thought that it would get more people's attention by having coupons being presented on users newsfeed. They could come in handy and the coupons would come from businesses people actually like or that facebook thinks they would like. By the AT&T phone running its first smartphone with the android 4.0 operating system, I think that a lot of phones now will become in use with the android system. I think this topic is controversial, because if all those devices are available on the internet including the person's personal information, it may include a problem from within the system. They said that this kind of technology has to be well thought out and needs to be in a safe program in order to keep it from getting into the wrong hands. I agree with this. Driverless cars are being tested now, and they are being considered in about six different states. Most of these states are larger states such as California. I think this is a bad idea, because if something goes wrong within the program of how the vehicle runs, there can be more problems than what the cause is trying to prevent. Iran is creating it's own internet, and has been monitoring all the incoming messages. There have been millions of thefts in cell phones throughout 2011, most of which are smartphones. It is the number one theft for all of last year. In order to reduce this, they are working on being able to delete information on the missing phones, eliminating personal data when needed. However, how can "commission devices" be online, what does it mean to have "house-hold devices" online? All I can think of is toasters and household-appliances.
\nWhat could possibly be the benefit of driver-less cars? Why on earth would you want one? What is the point of a car you cannot drive? Besides I thought the world was planning on running out of fuel and therefor cutting back on cars to spend as much energy as possible to develop a new mode of transportation.
\nIs AOL even used these days, why would the company try to become "an important online competitor" when everyone is already communicating through Facebook or their personal cell phones. What is the use, shouldn't AOL just give up the fight and direct the remaining users to other sites to improve revenue in the more heavily weighted areas such as Facebook (which I am not in support of, I still advocate for email, texting, calling, and face to face communication).
\nWhy don't computers just come up with a universal Microsoft software rather than all the confusing XP and 2007 and 2009 software? When I had problems with my laptop I called tech support and they asked what kind of software I had on my computer and I said I didn't know but it is a gateway. It had a lot of great information. One thing I found interesting was how that instead of calling the Ipad an "Ipad 3" they are just calling it the "new Ipad." It has a more higher resolution then the other two Ipads. I also thought that it was really good how they are thinking that cloud computing will generate 14 million jobs globally by 2015. That could have a big impact in the world becuase they're are many people without jobs right now. The last thing I thought was pretty smart is how youtube is blocked in grades K-12. But in contrast, I think that highschoolers should have access to it because their more mature and can actually find some informational videos on there. I do though, like the idea of there being a youtube for students becuase then its a for sure that there will not be any inappropriate videos for students to come across.","dateCreated":"1331732069","smartDate":"Mar 14, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"12jescutkowski","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/12jescutkowski","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1327423600\/12jescutkowski-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"51751292","body":"This weeks course cast talked about a lot of interesting news. I thought the youtube one was interesting because schools are now banning youtube because of its distractions, but now google has come up with youtube for schools, having the ability to only see and use the educational videos. Another interesting story was the poison texts. This was saying that phone users have experienced some type of security threat with their device. I thought this was interesting because I have never experienced this and hearing about this made me feel worried. A question I have for this is, how do you get rid or stop these poison texts that are tricking you into buying useless stuff? About YouTube on campus, I think it's a good idea to an extent but some students will try to get access to their other daily favorites. That is bigger than a computer monitor size because a computer is normally 1024 by 768. The new iPad will have a very powerful dual-core processor to drive the display. The new iPad will be available tomorrow. According to the technology news, about 1\/3 of the US population will own iPad s by the year 2016. Circuits and Electronics has about 90,000 students enrolled. Anyone who has an internet connection can enroll for a MIT course. Microsoft said that cloud computing will create about 14 million jobs in the world by 2015. K-12 schools have blocked YouTube because there can be some really bad things on there and it can be a time waster. There is a new video website for schools called YouTube for Schools. I don't understand why they didn't just call the new iPad iPad 3. Won't the consumers get confused when the new iPad comes out that should be the fourth? What will they call the next one out? Instead they called it the New iPad. It has two times the pixels of the second iPad also including hi-def picture. The cost for one of these is anywhere from $499 to $829. That's a lot of money. Who can afford that now in these tough economic times? So it is released on March 16th, today.
\nThe enrollment in technology courses have sky-rocketed due to the increasing job opportunities available within the next few years using electronics.
\nYou-tube has been blocked by K-12. I thought every school had blocked that. If kindergarteners got to watch you-tube and the more mature teenagers didn't get a chance to prove we deserve the access for school purposes, many people will be angry. Many classes are harder to improve on already existing abilities because their are no videos we can use for final projects. It is harder to exceed the teacher's expectations. \nIt sure is sad that our world has come to the level of needing security on the internet. Whatever happened to the days when you didn't even have to shut your front door at night not even considering the possibility of locking it. Heck locks were not even installed in cars at one point so it seems ridiculous that these days there is a need to protect your computer from hackers. Cloud computing will decrease the lag time when uploading, downloading or saving something, and the faster something gets done the happier everyone is.","dateCreated":"1327515036","smartDate":"Jan 25, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"13hemccluskey","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/13hemccluskey","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"49643662","body":"Cloud computing has positively effect my life because it could save a lot of money.","dateCreated":"1327587615","smartDate":"Jan 26, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"13xuvang1","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/13xuvang1","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"49643938","body":"Cloud computing will impact my daily life positively, it'll save more money and time, instead of spending thousands of dollars and time on buying all the equipment just to have one simple program to run for countless days. I have a gmail account on my smartphone because I needed one to access the market however I have never really used gmail on a computer. I have never used google docs and the last time I used a wikispace I was in 7th grade in Mr. Jeffers class so that was a while ago and I'm sure some things have changed since then, so this is really pretty much all new to me. I used Audacity last year in German 3 a couple of times but I had directions in front of me each time. I also used movie maker in US History 2 last year and it was a time-consuming experience but it worked out pretty well. I have never used photostory but I used photoshop very minimally last year in Pub. Lab.
